Ecco the Dolphin poster

Description

This was a very interesting poster to make, not so much for the design itself but the research that went into it.

While reading the plots and playing some of the games to get a better feel of the character, I found that was interesting to see the undersea world from the point of view of the dolphin.

Scientists have long been facinated and continue to be amazed by the intelligence of dolphins and whales. How Ecco interacts with the other dolphins in his pod as well as other denizens of the deep sea is very thought provoking. While these animals may not have the same physical facultys that humans do,

The plot of the first game in the series finds Ecco and his pod living peacefully in a secluded bay until one day, a mysterious waterspout suddenly appears and Ecco (who had been in the middle of a very high jump out of the water) finds himself alone in the now seemingly lifeless Bay.

Seeking to locate his pod Ecco enbarks upon a quest that takes him from the cold waters of the Arctic to the abyssal depths of the Open Ocean.

Learning that an unseen advanced lifeform from the stars is responsible for the sudden disappearance of much of the Earths undersea life, journeying to the sunken ruins of the Atlantis temples, Ecco after much trial and effort, finds the means to face the ancient mysterious force and restore the Earths oceans.

I envisioned the Lonelyness of seemingly futile search that Ecco would have to endure as he swims though the Open ocean in search of his loved ones. This I felt would give Ecco an almost human like quality in this picture. It's a big vast ocean and the journey would have had to have been incredible.

Even more so then the story of the game I also listened to several of the soundtracks as well, and was fancinated by the haunting music mixed with sounds of actual dolphins.

The music and images from the game, concepts of the story and research of the actual Dolphins all resulted in the poster you now see.

All in all, I felt that I not only began to see a great adventure story unfolding, but began to view the world (at least the undersea world anyway :-) ) from a very unique perspective. :-)

These were the same thoughts I had when playing the game.
Although the Ecco-series does have flaws (like where the hell do I have to swim with the dolphin in the first place) but no one can deny the interesting ideas it has.
There could be much more made out of it, like different endings, better riddles, better gameplay and so on.

But nevertheless the chance of playing a dolphin fighting an extraterrestrial enemy was great (and weird at the same time).
